Greetings Middle School Band Parents and Students: On behalf of the School of the Arts Band Booster Club, welcome back to another exciting year at SOA. And if this is your first year at School of the Arts, you’re in for possibly the most exciting, as well as challenging, time you’ll ever spend in school. As you know, SOA differentiates itself from all other schools by its strong yet balanced emphasis in both academics and the arts. New and returning students alike may have lots of questions about the academics as well as the Middle School Band. That’s where we hope to help. Mr. Charlton Singleton, Band Director, deals with our students and their questions on a day-to-day basis. Additionally, the Band Booster Club is here to assist you and help you comfortably settle-in to this new school year…and in some cases, new school. Are you ready for a challenge? The Band Booster Club is not just the group that causes kids to knock on doors selling things, but much more. In fact, the Booster Club is responsible for the majority of the Band’s annual funding. That means everything from the basics to their annual “big trip”. We need your active involvement! Remember, these are your kids and your Booster Club. Click here to contact Amy Scholly, Volunteer Coordinator. Back to School night is Tuesday August 16th at 6pm. Please stop by the Band room to meet The Booster Club. We will be available to answer questions, collect fees and most importantly contact information. Please make sure to sign in with your up to date phone numbers and email addresses. We do much contact via email. You will also be able to purchase your Essential Elements Book. Finally, since surprises are only good at birthdays, we would like to remind you of the annual Band Fee of $150 (due of the first day of school). Before you reach for the oxygen bottle, know that this fee covers all the basics as well as many of the items you typically pay extra for throughout the year. Sheet music, binders, SOA performance folders, county, state and regional competition fees, performance venue rentals, band t-shirts, local field trips and much more are covered. Most importantly, the fee is structured to provide the environment necessary for your child to train and perform in the tradition of excellence for which School of the Arts is well known. The fee can be paid in (3) consecutive payments of $50.00 due September1st, October 1st, and November 1st. We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, August 16th.
